Controller

What data we process

Account data (email address, optional display name), your settings (for example reminder times and your consent to the AI features), your books and reading progress, your conversations with the reading companion, the thoughts you keep, your subscription status (Remi Plus), the days on which you use Remi, and a technical usage counter (amount of AI usage per day and month) to enforce the usage limits and protect against abuse. We also evaluate this counter in aggregate to review usage limits and prices.

Purposes and legal basis

We process this data solely to provide the app (account, conversations, resurfacing of thoughts). The legal basis is performance of a contract under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Remi only uses the AI features (conversation, book knowledge, summaries, verdict suggestion, voice input) after you have explicitly agreed to them in the app; you can withdraw this consent in your profile at any time. Technical crash reports (see below) are processed based on our legitimate interest in a stable app under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Service providers and transfers to third countries

We use carefully selected processors: Supabase (hosting, database, authentication; servers in the EU, Ireland), OpenAI (AI conversation, book knowledge, conversation summaries and verdict suggestion, USA – your messages and kept thoughts are transmitted for this), Groq (speech-to-text, USA – only if you use voice input, the recording is transmitted and not stored permanently after transcription) and Resend (sending sign-in emails, USA – your email address is transmitted for this). For book search, search terms are sent to Google Books and Open Library. To manage subscriptions we use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) – your account ID, a device identifier (the identifier Apple assigns to one provider’s apps, IDFV), your subscription status and purchase events are transmitted there; your payment details remain entirely with Apple. When errors occur or the app starts unusually slowly, we send technical reports (error message, device type, app version, the last steps in the app before the error, and for a slow start the loading time – no conversation content and no account ID) to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA; reports are stored in the EU). For transfers to the USA we rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) or – where the provider is certified – on the adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

This website

Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) delivers the website remiapp.de for us as a processor. When you open it, Cloudflare processes the connection data this requires: your IP address, date and time, the page you request, your browser type and your browser language. We use the language only to show you the page in German or English and do not store it for this. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and fast website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For the transfer to the USA, the previous section applies. The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and loads no content from other providers, not even fonts. If you follow a link to the App Store, Apple's privacy policy applies there.

No ads, no tracking

Remi shows no ads, uses no tracking or analytics services, and never sells data. Reminders about your thoughts are scheduled locally on your device – no data leaves your device for that.

Retention

We store your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account in the app, all associated data is permanently removed.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can fully delete your account at any time in your profile. We will provide a copy of your data on request by email at support@remiapp.de.
